Damon Georgelas joined Reef Capital Partners as Chief Legal Officer in August 2019. Mr. Georgelas is responsible for the delivery of legal services to Reef Capital Partners, and its respective affiliates and subsidiaries. Prior to joining Reef Capital Partners, Mr. Georgelas served as counsel for both private real estate developers and municipal development organizations. He served as counsel for the Georgelas Group's 6.5 million square foot transit-oriented development in D.C., and as Chief Counsel for the Redevelopment Agency of Salt Lake City (RDA). As Chief Counsel for the RDA, Mr. Georgelas provided the legal guidance required to complete hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth in active development projects. Such projects ranged from residential and commercial mixed-use projects to streetcars, libraries, and the 2,500- seat Eccles Theater on Main Street in Salt Lake City. In addition to his real estate experience, Mr. Georgelas was an attorney with Parsons Behle & Latimer for seven years where he specialized in complex commercial litigation and sophisticated transactions. Mr. Georgelas earned a B.S in Economics with a minor in Philosophy from the University of Utah and his J.D. from the University of Vermont. Mr. Georgelas received a Certificate of International Comparative Law and Corporate Governance through Cornell University at the University of Paris at Sorbonne and has an LL.M in Securities and Financial Regulation from Georgetown. Mr. Georgelas maintains an active Utah Bar license and an inactive license in Virginia.
